This exceptional handcrafted Native American ring, created by Casa Kakiki in Texas, is a unique piece from the late 1960s-1980s. As a collector, I traveled with my parents across various reservations, working directly with artisans and collecting rare pieces like this one. It holds deep cultural and historical significance, being part of my family’s collection. Crafted in sterling silver, the ring features a striking turquoise cabochon in a Navajo style. Below the stone, inlays of coral, turquoise, jet, and mother of pearl create a vibrant design, reminiscent of traditional Zuni Pueblo craft. Designed by Howard Shaw, a Cheyenne from Oklahoma, this ring was crafted by Shaw and his wife Kia with the help of Tigua artisans. Howard’s work earned numerous awards for quality and authenticity, and he was dedicated to preserving Native American craftsmanship. His Casa Kakiki business supported the Tigua community by providing jobs while preserving traditional designs. Howard and his wife were close friends of my family, having hosted us whenever we visited. The ring’s size is 8.25, fitting most finger shapes, and it weighs 17.2 grams, adding a luxurious feel. This ring, created during the heyday of Casa Kakiki, is in excellent condition, showcasing the quality craftsmanship of the era. It is not just a piece of jewelry but a part of history. Whether you’re a collector of Native American art or a jewelry enthusiast, this ring will make a stunning addition to any collection. Note: This ring is part of a family collection and is available while items last.
