Omega Speedmaster Professional Ref. 145.022-69 “Pre-Moon Transitional” | Circa 1968–1969 Offered here is an exceptionally collectible Omega Speedmaster Professional Ref. 145.022-69, one of the final true “Pre-Moon” transitional Speedmasters, bridging the gap between early vintage Speedmasters and the iconic Moonwatch era. Produced during Omega’s transition from the famed caliber 321 to the Calibre 861 manual wind chronograph movement, the 145.022-69 represents a pivotal chapter in Speedmaster history. Manufactured just before—and in the months following—the Apollo 11 Moon landing, these early examples retained many sought-after vintage design elements while incorporating Omega’s updated movement architecture. This example features the highly desirable Type 1 “Dot Diagonal 70” DON (Dot Over Ninety) tachymètre bezel, paired with the correct medium “S” step dial, original hands, hesalite crystal, proper 24-tooth narrow-logo crown, and correct Omega 1171 bracelet. The caseback is especially collectible, featuring no Moon landing or NASA-flight engraving, instead displaying the classic Omega Seahorse (Hippocampus) medallion with straight “Speedmaster” text—a hallmark of early pre-Moon references. Serial number 28,427,123 dates production to approximately 1968–1969, placing it squarely within the important transitional period when Omega introduced the earliest Calibre 861-powered Speedmasters. While the reference 145.022 remained in production for nearly two decades, early examples like this stand apart for distinctive details including the DON bezel, step dial, pre-Moon caseback, and transitional design cues collectors actively seek today. A historically significant and increasingly collectible Speedmaster representing the final chapter of the true pre-Moon era
